Toronto based singer, rapper, songwriter and filmmaker, LaToya Jane, has just released her new video “Everything”. Taken from her latest EP, Grown produced by Sound Smith Productions (Rakim, Travis Porter), “Everything” is about LaToya believing in herself regardless of what is thrown her way.The video tells the story of her journey growing up in a rough area of Toronto, into the woman and artist she is today.
LaToya started creating and performing music at the age of 3. During her time in a women’s prison the guards would pay her to sing, this urged her to start writing her own music. This experience motivated her to pursue her passion for music and tell her story, once she was released. Her dedication is reflected in both her music and filmmaking. In 2014, LaToya won the award for ‘Best Director’ at the Commffest Film Festival for Creature, a documentary about her time as a gang member in Toronto.
