Jean Dawson (@JeanDawson) – “Glacier Gallery”

Los Angeles, experimental artist Jean Dawson has released his debut single “Glacial Gallery” today via celebrated French electronic label Kitsune.

Produced by Dawson’s longtime collaborator, San Diego songwriter Lecx Stacy,  his debut single “Glacial Gallery” is a moody masterclass in genre experimentation and auditory world building. The track carefully pulls sounds from the worlds of darkwave, minimalist electronic, hip hop and modern R&B creating a disparate clash of influences and styles that is uniquely its own.
“I suppose in making ‘Glacier Gallery’ I was seeking a form of catharsis.” Says Dawson. When myself and Lecx sat down drafting up ideas for the most fitting amalgamation of deep house tones and sharp synths, I figured that I wanted the context of this record to fit my somewhat discontent disposition at the time. I always find myself talking about warmth in my records but for whatever reason I felt that warmth wasn’t good enough. I needed something strong and fragile like Glaciers under the sun.”
