Shirt (@SHIRTNYC) – Flight Home

“Firstly, he’s a beast of rapper who defines bully bars.
If rap were truly a meritocracy,
SHIRT would be in the running for King of New York.” – PITCHFORK
“The mysterious spitter raps his ass off…
His Wordplay Is Insane.” – XXL
Today, multi-talented Queens rapper SHIRT is proud to release his tribute visual Flight Home, a socially conscious ode to the lush urban culture of his hometown.  Flight Home produced by San Holo is the latest forward-thinking offering from his upcoming album PURE BEAUTY. The single is available at all digital retailers today.

Directed by SHIRT and Dave Svedosh, Flight Home is immersed in all things classically New York. SHIRT brings you along for ride through Manhattan on top of a truck painted with Nike Adidas signage, something he has done quite a few times on his own prior to filming the music video. For 50 or so blocks from 23rd on Broadway through the Lower East Side, the crowds cheered, took photos and enjoyed the free performance and shirts. After savoring a typical decadent meal, SHIRT creeps down to the famed Freedom Tunnel, exposing its raw and extraordinary graffiti artwork honoring the displaced New Yorkers who sought liberty and refuge.
“This was done without Nike or adidas permission or consent but with the utmost respect. This is about culture and love, and being able to take flights home,” says SHIRT.
Inspired by the profound artwork of conceptual artist John Baldessari, PURE BEAUTY will be SHIRT’s first full length album to be released via Third Man Records (the independent, genre-free label out of Nashville, TN owned by Jack White). As the first rap artist signed to Third Man Records, SHIRT will make his debut album release digitally on February 9th while the LP with an alternative cover featuring Baldessari’s artwork will available February 23rd with a companion limited edition containing bonus content and a Baldessari-inspired shirt. More details forthcoming.
